QUEUE Gallery is pleased to present Medley, a solo exhibition by South Florida native artist and architect Ezekiel Binns.
Through two imagined spaces surveyed within the exhibition, Binns explores a reconciliation between the rhythms of Earth’s ambiance and the comfort and convenience that often estrange us from them in contemporary architecture. In Medley, Binns fuses traditional and experimental techniques across drawing, sculptural models, and video to probe the intersections of aesthetics, perception, and interaction.
Binns considers palpable, earthly tributaries such as a warm breeze with the same, if not greater, reverence an architect accords form and structure. Medley attends to the quiet rigor and beauty of such moments, what an architectural plan cannot hold still, making tangible a series of thoughts on being within and without.
Ezekiel Binns (b. 1998, Miami, FL) earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture at The Cooper Union. Working across art and design, he has contributed to Kanye West’s Donda and Frank Ocean’s Homer. His work has appeared in group exhibitions including Group Show 3 with Lucien Smith’s Serving the People (STP), Major 5th at The Cooper Union, Johnny-Brown with QUEUE Gallery in Miami, and, most recently, Inocentes with Red Expanse, among others. Binns is currently an artist-in-residence at YoungArts in Miami. Medley marks his first solo exhibition in the city where he was born and raised.
